so long without a posting!

sorry its been a long time, been real busy doing stuff and more things and more stuff.
here's a quick update:

December: Got engaged! a very big moment in my life and i guess will be the start of a new chapter for me. the wedding is not going to be until 2008 though.

December: my 30th birthday. had an awsome time in Pad Thai with my mates. the buggers got me a minger gram. some fat smelly lady from the estate down the road to get her bits out and get jiggy. i wanted to shower and wash my clothes after! the rest of my birthday was really fun though.

December: Xmas and NY was fun. (hmmm dunno what else to write)

January: Went Snowboarding to Alp d'huez in France. It was really knackereing this time. I think hitting 30 has affected me badly!

Bank of England hikes up interest rates to 5%

shocked when i came back from HK to learn that the Bank of England has increased its base rate to 5% whilst i have been in HK. just goes to show that I can't leave those monkeys unattended for too long.

does anybody think they will go any higher? I hope not as in most countries the property market is linked to the interest rates that you can borrow at. I hope this doesn't affect the UK market too much. It shouldn't as long as the rates don't shoot up any more.

a few years ago the rates hit a low of 3.5% ( i think?) but in the eightees they hit a high of about 12%.
Its gonna be hard to pay the mortgages if the rates go to 12% thats for sure, but if they go down then it will be plain sailing and i'll be able to go to the casino more.. jokes!!

Hong Kong 2006

Just recently returned from my trip to HK. I was there for 10 days, just a short trip but long enough for sure.

Spent too much money, ate too much, drank too much and slept far too little. Hong Kong is definitely the land of over indulgence.  Didn;t take my N73 out with me as i had to use my older phone with a HK sim, which meant no picture to share.

It was really good to catch up with friends over there, but it was almost like being in nottingham as there was a large crew over there. One friday night it did almost seem like a full house of nottingham peeps the list was:
Me (notts)
Martin (notts)
Dickie (ex notts now london)
Helen (notts)
Fai (nottsish)
Mike (ex derby now HK)
Derek (ex notts.brum now HK)
Jenny (ex notts now london)
Suey (ex notts now HK)
Yani (ex notts now london)
and some others ...
and of course my mates from HK

good to know that everyone is doing well either over here or over there.
My mate mike is selling UK green belt land investments out there , I brought him a piece of tarmac from down my road in the hope that he could sell that for me. ha ha

one thing that i notice with HK is that when i was a kid i used to love going HK to check out all the new techno gear in the shops. Consoles, PC's etc etc. as it was always newer and cheaper than the UK. now however with the internet and shops like Ebuyer the net prices over here are more or less the same as over there. for example I bought a 1gb Toshiba miniSD card over there for HK$ 190 which is about UK£13. I looked on ebuyer ehen i got back and the cheapest 1gb card they do is for £11. its not toshiba but a different make and you have to pay postage but do u get waht i mean. HK is just not as good for techno bargains as it used to be.

I can;t however knock the food out there. you can get a bowl of won ton noodles for HK$13 about 90p!!
OMG its sooo easy to get fat out there, but one question spings to mind.. why is the average HK guy built like a pencil? and the average girl is shaped like a toothpick? they need a bit more meat on them. maybe they need to be introdued to the british diet of beer and chips?

It wasn't all fun fun fun though as it was a serious trip for me. I took my granny out to hong kong as she hasn;t been for a few years and is not that confident walking on her own. I booked wheelchair assistance for her at the airport so she has somebody push her in a wheel chair form the check in all the way on to the plane. This is really good because she didn't have to queue for anything, we just pused right to the fron of all the security queues.

Came back with a dodgy foot though as somebody must have trodden on it whilst we were out. it was sooo painful i had to like hobble through the airport on the way back. poor me!
